“Parental Rights” is dangerous for kids

Wow. There’s nothing quite like logging in to see someone accusing me of being a pedophile because I had the audacity to suggest the “parental rights movement” is often dangerous for kids.

On a post where I very specifically disclosed my own direct history of child abuse to help demonstrate why I understand not all parental rights things our are good things.

That’s right…all I did was suggest that children should have rights, and someone called me a pedo. That’s it. No other reason needed.

I think children are humans with rights and I am therefore deserving of this accusation.

That’s what “parental rights” advocates are bringing to the game.

That’s it: the whole thing occurring. Lies to protect their status as abusers and controllers. I think that children shouldn’t abused by their parents, THAT that that that single fact alone is such a threat to their world view that they will knowingly toss the actual worst FLASE accusation they can at you because that’s how afraid they are.

They know deep down that their perspective is completely oppressive in nature and unsustainable for the world that we need to be and the society that we could become.

They know that the fragile grip their hateful, insular, small worldview has on their kids can be so easily revealed for the completely unethical, abusive, bullshit it is, once their kids get 2 seconds of exposure to other ways to live. (So they try to keep those kids from getting many exposure of other ways to live until they are old enough that they can tell those kids hey you get to have & abuse your own kids now you’ve arrived!!!!)

They hate people like me because I am a real, every day talking, walking, adult, living reminder that abused children grow up, get smart, and call out their PARENTAL ABUSERS everyday. And yes, those parental abusers are often people who claimed to be doing everything for our own benefit, our safety, our protection.

This is the death rattles of the white supremacist patriarchal family structure. This is what messages that say that the singular powerful male head of a “nuclear family” dictates to his wife who carries out his dictations toward his children, as “the way it it is” and “the way it MUST be” sounds when it is dying.

This is why there is a movement against education.

This is why there is a movement against queer families.

This is why there is a movement against books.

This is why there is a movement against libraries.

This is why there is a movement against “DEI.”

This is why there is a movement against knowledge access of all kinds, because knowledge does present the opportunity for the disruption of this status quo.

I couldn’t be here today, saying what I know to be true, if someone (many someone’s) had not disrupted for me the status quo that was my father’s routine daily abuse of myself, and everyone else that lived in our house. The ways that they of “parental rights” want to rear their families don’t work for those of us who have been abused among them. They know that their kids will leave them just like so many of us have left our abusive parents as our eyes have been opened to the wider world outside the families that tried to control us.

I’ve gotten so excellent at blocking the gross freaks on tumblr out there over my 13 years into using it that for a run here, the good was so far outweighing the bad that I experience, that for just a sec I forgot that there are still truly evil people out there lurking among us. This kind of stuff used to be a day that ended in Y around 2016 for me on here. I can’t believe that I used to consume that kind of hateful, completely unfounded, harassment on the daily.

Thank God it is now the exception and not the rule.

But also, fuck that douche bag.
